Playing the piano is a great activity for people of all ages. Many people begin taking piano lessons as young as 4 years old. I highly recommend finding a piano teacher near you and learning the piano through weekly 1 on 1 lessons.
You can always find local piano teachers at music stores including Ken Stanton and Ponier Music. Many local churches also have piano lesson programs.
Students in 3rd-5th grade also have the option of joining the Piano Club.

There are many great keyboards out there. There is no 1 right option for every student. In my opinion, I would steer clear of anything with fewer than 61 keys (a traditional piano has 88 keys). Touch sensitivity is also important so that students have control over the volume of their playing. Another feature that I like is: built in lessons through lighted keys. This option enables the keyboard to visually show the student which keys to use as the student plays through lessons that are built into the keyboard.
