Paradise by Coldplay
For now, guitars and basses will play the same part.
This piano part has been assigned to JR and Josiah.
The drum part will be divided between 2 players. 1 for drums and 1 for cymbals.
I am dividing the strings part into 2 separate parts. Several students have been assigned to each.
Modern Band
What is Modern Band?
In the Modern Band, students will make music using guitars, basses, keyboards, drums and electronic sound production (iPads). The club will meet at Due West Elementary school on Thursdays until 3:20 PM. All tuition will go toward musical instruments, t-shirts and the Due West Music program.
Who can join Modern Band?
All 4th and 5th grade students are eligible to audition.
Instruments will be provided (during club rehearsals; not to take home)
Due West’s own Mr. Duff will be the instructor for this club. Mr. Duff has been trained in Modern Band instruction by Little Kids Rock. He also has extensive experience performing and recording with modern bands in many genres.

- Tuition: $50/ semester (do not pay until after the audition process.
- Live Auditions will be held on Thursday, 8/25.
- Video Auditions may be submitted through Thursday, 8/25
- Rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 1.

Auditions
In order to give each Modern Band member more attention during rehearsals, the total number of students in the club is going to be limited. To limit the number of students in the club, auditions will be held both in person and via video. Video auditions can be sent to my email anytime between August 1 and August 25. Live auditions will be held on Thursday, August 25. Please complete the following registration form by Thursday, August 18th if you want to audition.
Audition Materials
Students will audition on at least one instrument. I recognize that many students do not own instruments on which they can audition. There were many successful students in Modern Band last year who did not have instruments at home. Students who do not have instruments at home will be allowed to check out a guitar from school to prepare their audition at home. If your student is interested in being in the Modern Band, complete the registration form, then email me to let me know if your child will be interested in checking out a guitar.
The audition song is 7 Nation Army. We will be performing this song (with slightly modified lyrics) at our concert in November. Students should submit a video of themselves playing the song on any instrument. Students may submit videos of performances on more than one instrument.
Optionally, students may submit videos of themselves performing other songs in addition to their 7 Nation Army audition video.
Students may opt for a Live audition instead of a video audition. The registration form includes this option.
